SiteKiosk: Bug Fix for critical error
On kiosk machines with SiteKiosk versions earlier than 8.7 under Windows 7, the system will in most cases become unusable after Internet Explorer 10 is installed. The affected SiteKiosk versions are 7.1 - 8.6. Any Windows 7 computers that have automatic updates enabled will be affected because Internet Explorer 10 is installed automatically as part of Windows updates.

All software resellers are strongly encouraged to forward this information to the operators of the kiosks. PROVISIO has no information about the end user and therefore cannot directly inform them!

Description
When attempting to load any content into the digital signage portion of siteremote.net for my user account causes an error within Microsoft Internet Explorer.

I have tried reinstalling silverlight, old versions 4/5RC1 and the latest one from Microsoft Web site, i've also tried this from XP and Win7 machines and get the same error.

Hi,

the path to your data (local Computer) seems to be too long. Please try to use a shorter local path to the data to be uploaded.

Hello.

I am not trying to use a local file, I am adding a Web Page (gadget) to display on the sitecaster, i try google.com and bbc.co.uk and neither of them are working?

Hi Martin,

I can not actually recreate this error as I have another error that occurs as soon as I click on the "Digital Signage - Sitecaster" link from the siteremote.net entry page. It would be helpful if you could call my mobile phone, I have tested this on another machine at my home and it works fine, I can not determine the difference in the configuration, but I dont really know where to look, there is a slight IE version but they are running the same Silverlight version.

Are there any other components I can check? .NET version, etc ?

This is the error I get, machine is Win7 64bit running IE 8.

Hi,

the problem is definitely related to your computer and not to SiteRemote. We are sorry to say, that we cannot support administration of any computer or os issues.
