Support Request: Browser Printing - Blank Page

Reproduction

open browser and try to print

Description

Dear Support,

we have 2 identical kiosks running the above version and we have an issue when printing from the browser in kiosk mode from one of the kiosks. They are running the exact same config file.

When printing from browser, the kiosk print dialogue pops up. If for example you're printing something from bbc.com on the GOOD kiosk, in the title section of what is going to be print one can see the URL(bbc.com) and the kiosk prints without any problems.

On the problem kiosk in the title section we're getting file:///C:/Users/SITEKI~1/AppData/Local/Temp/xxxxxx.htm and a blank page is being printed.

What could be the problem. I've already checked margins as suggested in the knowledge base.

Regards
Ian

Hello,

The SiteKiosk Browser just does use the Internet Explorer Webbrowser Control of the installed IE version

Therefore first make sure that it works in Internet Explorer on the machine you have problems with.
Then you may test it in “Run once” mode before starting SiteKiosk in “Auto Start” mode.

If you activated the printer monitoring and use a network printer please also make sure that the printer was installed on Windows like described in the SiteKiosk help
http://www.provisio.com/helpconsole/SiteKiosk%20Help/en-US/default.htm?setup_printer.htm

If you don’t want to charge for printing (or restrict the printing) you may even deactivate the printer monitoring:

Regards,
Michael Olbrich

P.S. If this would be a bug the problem would occur on every machine.

Hi,

-I've tested browser sitekiosk user printing and it works perfectly.
-I've disabled print monitoring
-network printer installed as indicated

the same issue still persists. it seems that from kiosk software it is printing something from cache(blank page) instead of the actual webpage. Other word/excel print without any issues

anything else I can check ?

Ian

"Run Once" works without any issues

Hello,

>>"Run Once" works without any issues <<<
In this case it does not apply to the SiteKiosk configuration but to any (user dependent) Windows setting.

Then you may set the System-Security-Manager to “Unprotected” (confirm with OK and restart the System-Security-Manager when finished) and “Protected again.
This will apply the current Windows printer settings to the SiteKiosk User account (used in “Auto Start” mode).
If that doesn’t help you may check it in Internet Explorer while logged in as SiteKiosk user.
