Support Request: Lync Support

Description

I am currently testing out the trial version of the SiteKiosk software. I'm looking to implement this into a few conference room PC if I decide to buy the software. Currently I am having issues accessing/using Microsoft Lync while the SiteKiosk is launched. I'm able to add Lync to the applications list in the configuration window, and I am able to launch Lync, however when I go to send a message to a contact or try to join a Lync meeting it freezes up and is not able to be used unless I exit out of SiteKiosk. Lync is vital to our conference rooms, so if I cannot get this to work I will need to seek another Kiosk software other than SiteKiosk.

What is the OS and IE version you are running on this system? Does the issue occur in both Start Once and Autostart?

I am currently using Windows 8.1 with Internet Explorer 11. This is happening with the Start Once option. This is still a trial version and will not allow me to set a password to let it start automatically.

Are there settings in the Windows & Dialog Boxes I can change to get Lync to operate in SiteKiosk? I've been messing around with them and have yet to find anything that works. Any help would be appreciated.

No, if this were, for example, a Windows & Dialog rule or Surfing Area rule you would see a message about it on the screen after it was blocked. It would not just freeze up. There would also be a log file entry. I do not believe that this is a general issue as other customers have reported using Microsoft Lync in SiteKiosk Windows environment without a problem but I do not have a Lync server setup to test this with. Do you see anything in your SiteKiosk log or your Windows Event log when the issue occurs?

As a side note, you can enter a password and test in Autostart with the unregistered version but any password will allow you to close SiteKiosk. In this case, since it is not working for you in Start Once mode it will also most likely not work in Autostart mode.

Unfortunately I do not see any related log entries that could help with the issue. I'm able to launch Lync 2013 (only through the Start Screen view), however once I pull up a message window to send someone a message, both the message box and the main Lync window freeze completely. I'm still able to access the Start Screen and other applications I've set up in SiteKiosk after I minimize the Lync windows. If I exit out of SiteKiosk with Lync still frozen, Lync will work just fine on the main desktop, unfreezing both the windows that were pulled up in SiteKiosk. I figured SiteKiosk might be stopping it due to Lync running another .exe or something along those lines, but nothing I have tried has helped. I've even tried inputting my Lync server addresses into the URLs that need permissions. Should I consult the support team at Microsoft?
