Support Request: Limit Windows From Button Links

Description

Hello,

I'm using Internet Explorer Start Page with a number of different button links.

Is it possible to limit the number of windows opened by clicking on a button.

For example, one of the buttons opens an Internet Explorer window and I would like this to open only once where at the moment clicking on the button and then minimising the window allows the button to be clicked again and another (the same) window opened.

Hello,

you can limit the overall number of SiteKiosk browser windows in the configuration under Start Page & Browser -> Advanced -> Maximum number of additonal open brower windows. This is not related to single button press but the overall number. The default is 5.

Thanks for the quick response.

I tried using this option and it does not seem to have any effect - even set it to None

Hello,

just to clarify then, you did not actually mean that you start a real Internet Explorer instance (not a SiteKiosk browser window with the IE engine) from the button?

The button command is a 'file' URL, c:\program files\internet explorer\iexplore.exe avediaserverxxxxx.xxxxxxx.xxxxx/portal

Hello,

You should just add a usual link (ahref with http://, https:// or file://) to your start page so that the new page opens in SiteKiosk browser.

With the actual SiteKiosk version you can switch between IE based skins using the IE Webbrowser control of the installed Internet Explorer (e.g. Metro IE skin) and Chrome based skins using a Chromium CEF browser engine installed with SiteKiosk (e.g. Chrome Browser skin) at “-->Start Page & Browser” in the SiteKiosk configuration.

Using other browser applications (like Internet Explorer) is blocked by default as SiteKiosk has no direct influence to the behavior of external applications and the SiteKiosk settings (like e.g. Maximum number of additional open browser windows, Surfing Area, Content Filter,..) are not effective in the external browser applications.

Of course you can disable the security features of SiteKiosk that are blocking the startup of other browsers (like you obviously did) but there is no further support on this or when running into any security problems (like you will when doing so).
