Support Request: sitekiosk was not able to start properly for 10 times in 1200 seconds

Description

Problem with sitekiosk, get error message when it starts up.
sitekiosk was not able to start properly for 10 times in 1200 seconds.
and then im only able to logout. When i log out and login and then start it and press "run once" it works perfect.

Have tried to change watchdog crash timers. have tired to create startup.xml and edit this do set watchdog to "False".
Have also tried to disable all windows services that is not needed to make boot up times faster.

I have this problem on 2 slow laptops that uses sitekiosk.

Both computers uses Chrome as browsers.


is there a trick to make it start faster to avoid this error ?

Hello,

There is no "start SiteKiosk faster" option available and it depends on the system hardware and performance how fast SiteKiosk starts.

If there is any additional Antivirus installed you may uninstall it and test again.
Also deactivate Hibernate mode under Windows (e.g. using command line: powercfg /h off) before activating auto start again.

If that doesn’t help you may also check if it happens when creating a new clean configuration (with default settings) where you only set the password.

Have tried new clean config file. Have standard clean windows installation.
Only Teamviewer installed on this machines, but they are slow computers.

If i press logout and then logged in again it works fine. but i need to do this every day since the computers turns off every day.

Have tried to create a Bat file , and put this on windows startup
@echo off
@"C:\isp\SiteKiosk\SiteKiosk.exe" "C:\isp\newconfig.skcfg"

This works. but it disables windows autologin, and i get the sitekiosk quick startup message where i can configure to "run once", automatic and custom.
Can i start without this quickstart window somehow so it start directly in sitekiosk without opening the config window ?

If thats possible i think it will start perfect.

Hello,

In general, SiteKiosk will start automatically (without a quick start dialog) if you specify the configuration as a parameter to the SiteKiosk.exe (as in your .bat file).
example: "C:\Program Files (x86)\SiteKiosk\SiteKiosk.exe" "C:\Program Files (x86)\SiteKiosk\Config\YourConfig.skcfg"

However, you do not use the default directory "...\SiteKiosk\Config" for the configuration file (*.skcfg), which may lead to access permission problems in the SiteKiosk user account.
Therefore, you should first move the newconfig.skcfg file to the directory "C:\isp\SiteKiosk\Config", load & save it again in the SiteKiosk configuration tool and then run the auto start of SiteKiosk (not via batch but with the Quick Start dialog).

If this does not help, I would recommend uninstalling SiteKiosk and then installing it with the default settings (standard installation) in the directory "C:\Program Files (x86)\SiteKiosk" (although there is generally no known problem when SiteKiosk is installed in a different directory).
