Description

Hi, our we are trying to update our startpage. Our SME for this product has left the organization, and didn't leave any documentation behind on how to perform this.

Thank you very much for those links. Unfortunately that doesn't look like the answer. From what I can tell, our instance was configured to hit a custom configured internal page. The scant documentation we have from the SME mentions a .skcfg file. I'm thinking I just need to modify the startpage tag in the startpageconfig section of this skcfg file. Is that correct? If so, are there any other sections I would have to alter? Thanks so much for the help!

Hello,

Sorry to hear that the last post did not resolve the matter. SiteKiosk can be used in innumerable ways. I will then give a few starting points for you to understand how your kiosk was setup.

Programs - SiteKiosk has three main areas
Start SiteKiosk - Start Once (test the software usually in Admin account) and Auto Start (when ready to deploy, restarts in Restricted Account)
Configure SiteKiosk - use to configure password, registration, start page and other security settings
System Security Manager- used to change security settings for Restricted User where SiteKiosk should run in production.

More about Configure SiteKiosk focusing on the "Start Page & Browser" :

*.skcfg - you can open up your configuration editor by double clicking on this file. You can click to go to "Start Page & Browser" settings. The very last settings chosen should already be selected. Looking on this page, you will see Browser Engines: IE or Chrome. You will have start page choices of Start Screen (see last post), Metro IE Skin/Chrome Browser (depending on Engine choice) and SiteCaster (Chrome only). If the browser was selected, then you will have a start page link. This link can be either html or local file (see important folders below). You can deduce how the kiosk was setup from there. You can always click the small question mark button to be directed to the appropriate topic in our resident Help Doc system.

Important project folders -
Configuration - C:\Program Files (x86)\SiteKiosk\Config (*.skcfg files)
Start Screen - C:\Users\Public\SiteKiosk\content (the entire folder).
Media Content - C:\Program Files (x86)\SiteKiosk\Html (images, videos, html folders, PDF etc)

Hopefully this helps.

Best regards.
