Support Request: Onscreen keyboard not shown

Description

In Sitekiosk when selecting an input field the icon to activate the Windows onscreen keyboard is not shown next to the input field and we need to drag the keyboard out from the middle on the left side of the screen. In Windows or any other application keyboard behavior functions as expected. Also when enabling keyboard in Sitekiosk nothing seems to change.

Hello,

SiteKiosk has no influence to and does not prevent the display of the Windows onscreen keyboard and it worked in my test on Windows 7 with SK 8.9 (in “Run once” and “Auto Start” mode).
(The little keyboard icon was displayed at the left side but also near to the input filed when I touch into the input field on the touch screen)
On Windows 8.1 it only displays if you start SiteKiosk with Shell Replacement (e.g. in Auto Start mode).

You may check it is about any (user dependent) Windows setting (to verify this e.g. start SiteKiosk in the user account where it worked as expected – e.g. in “Run once” mode in the current user account).

Generally this is a feature provided by Windows (on Window 7 by the “Tablet PC Input Service” that will be installed through the Windows Features).

Alternatively you may use the integrated onscreen keyboard of SiteKiosk (works independently from the Windows OSK).

We have the problem on a Windows 7 PC connected to a ELO touchscreen. It did function before as expected however somehow after a restart of the system it doesn't function anymore. I already tried to reinstall Sitekiosk and to disable and enable the “Tablet PC Input Service”.

The little keyboard icon is displayed at the left side and also near to the input filed when I touch into the input field on the touch screen in all Windows applications except in Sitekiosk. In Sitekiosk I have to drag the hidden keyboard from the left side in order to be able to input any text.

I already tried enabling the integrated onscreen keyboard of SiteKiosk and this also doesn't show anything when selecting an input field.

All tests were done as local administrator and in in “Run once” mode.

Hello,

Unfortunately this is not reproducible and therefore may even apply to any ELO touch screen driver settings?
I have used a Dell One with integrated touch screen.

But you may also check it in “Auto Start” mode with shell replacement.

>>>I already tried enabling the integrated onscreen keyboard of SiteKiosk and this also doesn't show anything when selecting an input field.<<<
Did you also check it with different input fields (e.g. on Google web search or the URL address bar)?

Otherwise the question is what has changed since it has worked before?

As far as I know nothing changed. We did a full factory install of the PC and still have the problem. We have installed the latest ELO touch screen driver and Windows 7 is fully patched.

How could it be a driver related problem? The touchscreen is working fine as expected in all applications and all input fields. Only in the Sitekiosk application we don't get the small keyboard icon when selecting any input field.

For example when running both site Kiosk (without any restrictions) and Internet Explorer, in the IE address bar I get the small keyboard icon and in Sitekiosk nothing happens. Also when opening Google search webpage in Sitekiosk and trying to input something nothing happens.

I seem to have managed to get Sitekiosk functioning as before. It looks Sitekiosk is sensitive to the order certain settings are configured regarding skins and full screen settings. I first had to switch to a different skin and enable the Sitekiosk keyboard. After that I was able to switch back to the Touch me skin and disable the Sitekiosk keyboard. Now the little keyboard is shown next to input fields again and Windows keyboard opens when selecting it.
