Support Request: Chromium browser popup window handling

Reproduction

Clicking on a link which opens pop-up window opens a new tab instead a normal pop-up window.

The pop-up window is opened using link with script like this: popUpWindow('OUR_URL',0,0,330,270);

The submit button in the pop-up windows is using window.close() at the end of the procedure of summiting the data.

Description

The new Chromium browser does not handle correctly the pop-up windows. They are opened as a new tab instead a normal pop-up window and the window.close() action is not working. Our site is using such a pop-ups to prompt for an access code to confirm transactions.

Hello,

This is not a bug. With “Chrome Browser” Skin based on Chromium actually links that open a new window will be opened in new tabs.

With the next SiteKiosk version (9.2) these links will be opened in a new window when you deactivate the Tabs completely at “-->Start Page & Browser-->Customize-->Browser Toolbar-->Show Toggle TabBar Button” (currently the new window link also opens in the same window when deactivating the tabs).

For technical reasons the “window.close” method has been deactivated in Chromium browser.
Alternatively you can use the IE based skins to make this work (new window, window.close).

Yes, we are using the IE skin at the moment, but we have some JavaScript compatibility problems because of the Webbrowsercontrol. That is the reason we are looking forward to use the new Chromium skin in SiteKiosk.

Is it possible for you to add a new option in the Configurator how to handle the pop-up windows in Chromium no mater if the tab bar is used or not?

I want to ask one more thing about the IE skin. Are the IE "Internet" zone or "Trusted Sites" zone security settings changed after we apply the security to the SiteKiosk user?

Hello,

>>> Is it possible for you to add a new option in the Configurator how to handle the pop-up windows in Chromium no mater if the tab bar is used or not?<<<
I will forward this feature request to our developers but cannot say if and when it will be implemented (it also depends on the number of feature requests).

No.
For changing these IE settings you need to access the user account you run SiteKiosk in and change those settings in IE.
Here the information about how to access the SiteKiosk user account (used in “Auto Start” mode):

Thank you. I will look forward to see this change in SiteKiosk.
After all using Chromium is way better than IE (Webbrowsercontrol).
