SmartCard Admin Tool
You will need the free administration tool to encode the SmartCard crypto cards supplied by PROVISIO.
Simply follow the instructions given after you launch the application.
You will first be prompted to insert your MasterCard. If you check the box "Save Master Key Card", this step will be dropped in the future because in this case your MasterCard data will be saved to the hard disk.
Do not enable this option if other people have access to the computer. If you do so, they will be able to charge cards without your knowledge.
After your personal MasterCard has been read successfully, the options listed below will be available.
1. Format - Delete or initialize a card
Each new SmartCard must be formatted/initialized before it can be used. You can also use this function to erase SmartCards that are already in use.
Formatting the card will delete all information and credit balances stored on the card.
2. Account - Manage credit amounts of a SmartCard
With the help of this function, you can determine the credit balance of your card. Every minute, a certain amount of the available balance will then be deducted at the Internet terminal.
3. Customer - View and edit information on customers
Since there is no need to keep shadow accounts, all relevant customer information is saved on the customer's card. Entering this information is optional. We still recommend that you complete these fields. The currency information sets the currency in which the charges will be made.
Entering the data is optional, i.e. with the exception of the information on currency, SiteKiosk does not yet evaluate the customer information provided on the card.
4. TC Reset - Reset Transaction Counter
Every SmartCard has an internal Transaction Counter, i.e. the TC will rise by 1 for every Read/Write activity carried out with the card. The maximum number of permissible transactions is reached when the counter hits 65,535. After that, it will not be possible to complete another transaction. You can use the TC Reset function, however, to reset the transaction counter.
5. Logging Transactions - transactions and sales are logged
All transaction and sales will be stored in the daily log files found in the folder "SmartCardLogs
You will find this folder in the directory of the current Windows user under Win2000/XP/Vista/7 (e.g. C:\Documents and Settings\MyUserName\Application Data\Provisio SmartCard\SmartCardLogs, under Vista C:\Users\MyUserName\AppData\Roaming\Provisio SmartCard\SmartCardLogs. If the folder Application Data/AppData is not visible, please click Tools->Folder Options->View and select to show hidden files and folders.

The log files cannot be protected against manipulation. This means that a member of your staff may be able to alter the log files using a text editor. Although this will take a lot of effort because the tool will always display accumulated sales figures, it is not at all impossible. As a result, do not rely a hundred percent on the log files' accuracy if there are other people that have access to your files.
6. Tips and recommendations
- The use of the SmartCards will also be recorded in the log files.
- You should charge a deposit fee for your cards.
- You will not be able to credit amounts to a card without a MasterCard unless you have checked the box Save Master Key Card.
