Support Request: Cannot delete pdf files after usage

Reproduction

See description

Description

User account - both administrator and restricted user, system security manager - for protected as well as unprotected mode.

DownloadManager.xml entry for pdf extension (in order to use dynamically generated pdf files):
...
<extension name='pdf' download='2' open='0'/>
...

After downloading you can delete the file. Yet, as soon as you open it you cannot any more (after closing document window, of course). Logging out does not erase that file, either (in spite that a relevant option is set). It gets deleted only after exiting SiteKiosk.

All other file types can be deleted without any problem.

Hello,

I am sorry but I can’t reproduce this problem.

On my test system (Windows 7 with IE9, Acrobat Reader 11.0.2 and SiteKiosk 8.6.1251) it is possible to delete the files manually in the File Manager of SiteKiosk (no matter if the PDF is currently displayed in the Browser or not) and the PDF files will also be deleted on logout / session end (when “Delete downloaded files“ at “-->Logout” is activated).

- Did you change the default download path?
(Win 7 = “C:\Users\Public\Documents\SiteKiosk”)
- Which operating system do you use and which IE version is installed?
- Which Acrobat Reader version is installed?
- Did you configure the Acrobat Reader to open PDFs in the Browser (default setting)?

General note:
Changing the DownloadManager.xml to <extension name='pdf' download='2' open='0'/> will only prevent that the downloaded PDF doesn’t open automatically.

If you want to disable the SiteKiosk Player for PDF (because you e.g. have issues with redirected links / dynamically generated PDF files) you need to proceed like given in this FAQ:

-->1. If you still have problems with special PDF links

Yes, I had made another change in my skcfg to use generated pdf's:
...
<mime-filters>
...
<filter enabled="false" player="pdf' ... />

I am using Win XP SP3, IE 8, Acrobat Reader XI for the pdf extension, "c:\Documents and Settings\SiteKiosk\Moje dokumenty\" for downloads.

Hello,

I have tested it now on Windows XP with IE8, Acrobat Reader XI and SiteKiosk 8.6.1251.
The downloaded PDF will always be deleted on logout and you also can delete it manually when the PDF is not displayed.
Only when you currently have the PDF opened it can’t be deleted manually (but will on logout).

You may also check again with a new configuration.
Only setup the password, activate the File Manager and allow downloads and configure SiteKiosk to delete downloaded files on logout.

After saving the configuration file open it with an editor and change

<filter enabled="true" player="pdf" content="application/pdf" action="2"/>

To

<filter enabled="false" player="pdf" content="application/pdf" action="2"/>

Note that on Windows 7 with UAC activated you may need to start the Notepad application as Administrator (right mouse click-->Run as administrator) to get enough access rights for saving the changes.

If it still doesn’t work maybe another application on your system has a handle on the PDF file?
e.g. any Antivirus suite / service?
