Support Request: Browsing in windows file explorer

Description

Hi!

I am using SiteKiosk version 8.7.1435 and I have a question.
We use company's online website in SiteKiosk and in one of webpage's fields a PDF document must be added by browsing it from computer (or from network share). When I click on that "Browse" button, SiteKiosk opens a window using Windows File Explorer. I have created a shared folder in C:\folderpath but "Browse" button opens in C:\Windows\System32. My question is how can I tell to sitekiosk that when I press "Browse" button, then it opens in C:\folderpath (or in network share), not in C:\Windows\System32.

With best regards,
Silvo

Hello,

SiteKiosk has no direct influence to the behavior of external applications. The same applies to the explorer.exe (which is usually blocked by default).

But you may check adding the path you want to open as parameter to the call of the exe file.
Here an example:

Generally I would advice using the File Manager of SiteKiosk instead and add the path you want the users have access to.
The File Manager can be opened then through the start menu or the programs page of SiteKiosk (or even through the start page when using the Portal Startpage Template or configuring the Start Screen Skin like this: http://devblog.provisio.com/post/2015/04/15/Starting-the-SiteKiosk-File-Manager-from-the-Start-Screen.aspx).

Further information about the File Manager of SiteKiosk you will find here:
http://www.provisio.com/helpconsole/SiteKiosk%20Help/en-US/default.htm?file_manager.htm

If you just open PDF files another possibility would by just directly link to the PDF files (e.g. through a button link on the Portal Startpage, a web linke with file: protocol in the Start Screen Skin or even a web page / html file you create yourselves and open in SiteKiosk then).
