Support Request: Need Assistance with SiteRemote Install

Description

We were able to install this application onto our test server and got it to work properly (except for the remote desktop feature). When we attempted to install this to our production servers, it is breaking the other sites on that server along with the SiteRemote site. We attempted and failed to install it on 2 different servers (Windows Server 2008, IIS7). Attached are screenshots of the error messages we’re getting. Please assist as soon as possible. We are being pressed to get this completed and to distribute 15 Sitekiosk computers by May 1st. Thank you.

Hello,

The error (500.19) in the screen shot shows that you didn’t install ASP.NET for the IIS like required and notified in the installation brochure.
Please check. You will find that option in the Server Roles settings on your Windows Server (-->Web Server (IIS)-->Application Development-->ASP.NET 4.5).
If APS.NET 4.5 for IIS is missing just install it and the web page should work.

Also note that you don’t need and should not change the password of users SITEREMOTE and SITEREMOTEADMIN.

General note:
By default SiteRemote installs to the default website in IIS. If you don't want that you need to add/create an additional web site in IIS and then choose that IIS site when installing SiteRemote (with custom installation).

Furhter information you will find in this installation brochure:

Odd, because our test server did not have ASP.NET 4.5 and it worked just fine. We installed SiteRemote on a created website other than the default website. We also assigned it its own IP address on the server. It's also strange that it would break all websites on that server. We'll install ASP.Net 4.5 and update this ticket with the results. Thank you.

When I attempt to install ASP.Net 4.5, the server is telling me that I already have the "same or higher version of .Net Framework 4.5 has already been installed on this computer". The list only shows v4.0.30319 installed.

To confirm: both of the servers that we attempted to install SiteRemote on has ASP.Net 4.5 installed, along with the other required IIS roles. We have it on its on IP in its own website (outside of the default website). When it installs, it breaks the other sites which are using ASP.Net v2 on a different app pool, on a different IP, on a different Website, and including those using the default website. The installation renders IIS useless. IIS reset does not fix the issue. Restarting the server also did not help.

I did send a reply via e-mail but maybe useful for other customers:

Please verify the installation of APS.Net for the IIS. It does not apply to the .NET Framework installation on the Features list:

Please check it at the Server Roles
Windows Server 2012 “-->Web Server (IIS)-->Application Development-->ASP.NET 4.5”
Windows Server 2008 R2 “ -->Web Server-->Application Development-->ASP.NET”

In regards to having more than the SiteRemote Web page in the IIS (generally we advice using a dedicated server for SiteRemote):

You can install SiteRemote to another web site than default web site in IIS but what SiteRemote needs is port 443 for https.
If there is only one IP available at the IIS the SSL/https binding from other web pages in the IIS on the same server would need to be change to any other free port but not use 443. This is an IIS issue.
Further information you should find in the IIS documentation.
