I am unable to open site kiosk on the PC. It believes another instance of the program is running. I have tried rebooting several times but this has not worked. Please advise.

Hello,

when you get the message, that another instance of SiteKiosk is already running, then exactly that is the case. Make sure you do not start SiteKiosk by adding it to the Windows Autostart or the run key of the registry or by using the Windows Task Manager. Please only use the start options provided by SiteKiosk itself, using Start -> All Applications -> SiteKiosk -> Start SiteKiosk.

Thanks for the reply - but how do I fix the issue. After I reboot the PC and try to start Site Kiosk the method you describe I still receive the error. I have checked and cannot find any instances running that have auto started at boot up or any services running.

Hello,

If you get the message “Due to license regulations you will only be permitted to execute SiteKiosk on each computer once” you start more than one instance of the SiteKiosk Bowser (SiteKiosk.exe).
SiteKiosk already ran and it somehow has been started a second time.

Please verify that SiteKiosk will not be started from somewhere else on your system (msconfig.exe, Task Scheduler).

If you have followed the default start up procedure ("Auto Start" Mode) and haven’t changed anything to start SiteKiosk a second time (e.g. Windows fast user switching with shell replacement for all users activated) please check what happens when you change the start page to e.g. www.google.com.
(Maybe your start page causes a crash and a restart of SiteKiosk. In this case the message comes up if the new instance of SiteKiosk will be started before the old one has been closed.)

General procedure for auto start SiteKiiosk:
Start SiteKiosk while logged in as Administrator (user account with administrative rights) and just choose “Auto Start” from the quick start dialog.
Then restart the system by confirming the corresponding dialog with yes.

Thanks - I have checked all of these things (MSCONFIG, Task Scheduler and Services) but I still continue to get the error that the software believes there is an instance running.

Are there any registry keys that need to be changed/removed to eliminate this error? If so, which keys?

Hello,

Allowing more SiteKiosk Browser instances would not solve this because this would lead to other problems.

Did you also check what happens when you change the start page URL (e.g. to https://www.google.com)?
