Support Request: SQL Server 2017 Express & Integration Services

Description

Just a quick question. The install instructions for SiteRemote say that you can use SQL Server 2017 Express, but they also say to install Integration Services which is not part of Express. I can install MSSQL Standard but I am wondering in SSIS is really mandatory and I can continue with Express. Thanks.

3. Proceed by installing MS SQL Server including all available
updates and service packs. Please also install the Integration
Services of SQL Server

You can install SSIS via SSDT: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/ssdt/download-sql-server-data-tools-ssdt?view=sql-server-2017#ssdt-for-vs-2017-standalone-installer

Hello,

The Integration Services of SQL Server are not required for the general usage of SiteRemote but for creating automated SQL jobs (for backup and maintenance) via SiteRemote when using a full SQL server installation.
This feature is not available in SQL Express (even as SQL Express doesn’t contain the integration services).

OK, thank you. I feel more comfortable doing MSSQL backups anyway. Steve

Hello,

Thank you for your feedback.
No problem. Using SQL Management Studio for configuring backups is even the advised method.
8.Backup: https://www.provisio.com/Download/brochures/siteremote-server-install-en.pdf
What is still missing with SQL Express then is the regular execution of the SiteRemote SQL maintenance jobs.
