Support Request: VMWare Horizon

Description

Hello Support,

We have a customer who is installing Sitekiosk on a virtual environment. They are able to install the software, but when they run it from their thin clients and their VMWare Horizon Client connects they see the startpage briefle but directly after they get the white screen with the safe on it and nothing happens anymore.

Is there a problem to run Sitekiosk on a Horizon Client?
Do you need any other information from us or screenshots or logs to investigate this problem further?

Thank you in advance!

Hello,

SiteKiosk wasn’t tested on VMWare Horizon as it is designed to run on a usual Windows Client system with Windows 7, Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 but generally there is no known issue with running SiteKiosk on a Virtual Machine (as long as the VM fulfills the system requirements: https://www.provisio.com/helpconsole/SiteKiosk%20Help/en-US/default.htm?system_requirements.htm).
The only thing that is known that SiteKiosk cannot block critical key combinations on the host system when running in a VM (by design).

If you want us to check this further you may send the following information and files via e-mail:
- A ZIP of the file “SiteKioskNG.log” from the folder “C:\Users\[user name]\AppData\Local\Temp”
[user name] = Windows user you started SiteKiosk within
- The information at which date & time the problem occurred.
- The SiteKiosk log “…\SiteKiosk\Logfiles”
- Your SiteKiosk configuration (…\SiteKiosk\config\YourConfig.skcfg)
- An export from the Windows event log (Application and System) as *.evtx with the information at which time & date the issue occurred.
- The information which Windows version is used in the VM
- The information what other applications are installed

You may also check if it works when switching from Chrome Browser Skin to Metro IE Skin as the IE skins need less performance.
