Support Request: Trial Issues

Description

Hello,

I have just downloaded the trial version of your website and have installed on a test PC here in the office. We have need for a Kiosk solution which will allow members of the public the ability to web browser and use our online system (mostly online apps).

We do have 1 online application though called TG Online, which is quite popular with our customers. TG is accessed via our website, and which requires a plug-in be installed behind the scenes (citrix receiver). Once you login on the website, a registered user clicks the TG launch button, which runs a launching .ica file, and when associated with the citrix receiver, TG launches. When we try this on SiteKiosk we get a Red Error circle message stating something along the lines of 'not permitted'.

Getting this particular system running would be essential for our kiosk solution. Can you assist?

The second problem i am having is opening pdf files on the internet. When i do i get the same red circle error as stated above. I have added Adobe Reader to the allowed applications, and it does appear in the Kiosk start menu, but they will not open automatically when i click them. Can you assist - this too would be essential.

I note with both problems, they do not occur within Windows running behind the Kiosk session, i.e Tengraph launches, and PDF's open auto.

Thanks for any assistance.

Ian.

When the .ica file is downloaded within SiteKiosk, the application will not automatically run. If you access ‘File Manager’ and try to run the file manually, you should see an error appear stating “No application configured for this file or running this file is respectively forbidden!”. To solve this issue, you will need to tell the Download Manager what to do when dealing with an .ica file. Please follow the instructions below:

1.) Go to the folder C:/Program Files/SiteKiosk/XML
2.) Locate the file named “DownloadManager.xml”
3.) Right-click on the file and select Open With > Notepad
4.) Locate the tag and enter in the following code into the list:

<extension name='ica' download='2' open='3' application='"c:\xxx\xxx\xxx.exe" "{0}"'/>

5.) The path to the application (.exe file) that will open the .ica file should be added to the data value for “application” in the code listed in Step #3
6.) Save and close the DownloadManager.xml file

Opening PDFs in SiteKiosk:

In order to open a PDF you will need to allow downloads in the SiteKiosk configuration tool under >Basic >File Manager.

The open and save dialogs will not be blocked in Autostart mode but will in Start Once mode since the software is not running under the secured user account. If you want to allow those dialogs for testing in Start Once mode, open the SiteKiosk configuration tool and go to >Basic >Access/Security then click the Settings button next to "Block system critical windows & dialog boxes" and delete the entries; "Save a Copy*", "Save*" and "Open*" from the Window title column.

Thank you for your advice, it has helped somewhat.

Do you have a direct support email address i can shoot these enquiries too, or would you prefer they stick here in the forum?

I have been able to open PDF documents within the kiosk, however i need the ability to save them. I enabled the PDF context menu which provides the save button, but when i click it it crashes my session. Is there a way to offer a Save, or Open dialog box etc that would give the user the ability to save prior to opening?

I also get an error when i click to launch our Tengraph application. I have made the exact changes to the Download Manager.xml file as you suggested, however now when i click i get the following error;

"an error has occured. error code -2146697208"

Thanks
