Support Request: Can't Start Chrome Browser

Description

I've had a problem getting the Chrome Browser to work with the default configuration. When I start SiteKiosk, it shows a gray vault in the background and the bottom MetroUI bar. After a few seconds, the MetroUI bar disappears and I'm left with the gray vault in the background. I'm unable to do anything else and need to restart the computer.

The configuration works fine if I switch it back to Internet Explorer.

I've had the default Chrome configuration work on one computer, but fail on another. I've also tried reinstalling SiteKiosk. Is this a problem with the default configuration for Chrome, or is something going wrong during the install?

Do you see anything in the Windows event log after that occurs? Does the same thing occur if you temporarily disable your antivirus or disconnect from the domain? If you create a new default configuration and run SiteKiosk without making any other changes, does the same thing still occur?

I see an exception in the event log:

Application: SiteKiosk.Launcher.exe
Framework Version: v4.0.30319
Description: The process was terminated due to an unhandled exception.
Exception Info: System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception
   at System.Diagnostics.Process.CreatePipeWithSecurityAttributes(Microsoft.Win32.SafeHandles.SafeFileHandle ByRef, Microsoft.Win32.SafeHandles.SafeFileHandle ByRef, SECURITY_ATTRIBUTES, Int32)
   at System.Diagnostics.Process.CreatePipe(Microsoft.Win32.SafeHandles.SafeFileHandle ByRef, Microsoft.Win32.SafeHandles.SafeFileHandle ByRef, Boolean)
   at System.Diagnostics.Process.StartWithCreateProcess(System.Diagnostics.ProcessStartInfo)
   at System.Diagnostics.Process.Start()
   at SiteKiosk.Core.ProcessStarter.StartProcess(System.String, System.String, System.String, System.Action`1<Int32>)
   at SiteKiosk.Launcher.MainApp.StartNodeJSObjectModel()
   at SiteKiosk.Launcher.MainApp.Run()
   at SiteKiosk.Launcher.MainApp.Main(System.String[])

I get the same error message even with my antivirus disabled. This computer is not joined to a domain.

If I create a new default configuration, I get the same error message. If I switch the default configuration to use Internet Explorer, it works.

Hello,

I tried on a second computer just now and encountered the same problem. I uninstalled the antivirus, ran Windows Update, installed SiteKiosk and ran the default configuration but encountered the exact same issue. I'm seeing the same error message in the event viewer.

I did some searching and found a couple of similar support requests:

Please send a screenshot of all installed programs to ward(at)provisio.com. Do you use an image for the OS on these machines? Is the same model of PC in use in both cases where this occurs? Is Windows fully updated on both machines where this is occurring? As this is not a known issue, there seems to be something in conflict with SiteKiosk in that environment.

Hello,

I've sent you an email with the installed programs.

We do use an image for the OS on these machines.

The two PCs I'm testing with are different models.

Windows Update has installed all available updates on both PCs.
