Support Request: Intermittent Black screen upon windows login

Description

Intermittent blank/black screen upon windows login.
We have 2 Kiosks that reboot nightly. One of them displays a blank/black screen with a white mouse cursor after the evening reboot. CTRL-ALT-DELETE still functions and when I reboot the system, the computer starts up normally. The next evening, the scheduled reboot initiates and the system successfully logs in, but with a blank/black screen again. Then I reboot again and everything is fine.

I've compared both kiosks: driver versions, Service Pack level, windows updates, installed program versions, IE settings, file security settings, SiteKiosk settings and I can't find any differences between the systems. I've also run chkdsk c: /f and sfc /scannow.

Is this something you have seen before? Any suggestions?

Thank you very much for any help you can provide. We have purchased several licenses from you and this is the first time we've seen this.

I do not know what would cause this. What is the IE and OS version? Is it the same on both machines? What do you see in the Windows Event log after the issue occurs? Did the issue recently start occurring? If so, if you perform a system restore to before that time does the issue still occur.

I have verified the OS and IE versions on both kiosks are the same. The Event Log wasn't helpful either. This issue has always plagued this system from what I'm reading here. I am a little nervous about a system restore considering I can only gain access to this system remotely. I am going to let Windows generate a new/fresh user account to see if this may yield better results. I've seen this trick solve other strange issues in the past.

I'll let you know what happens.

Thank you for your input,
