Support Request: Problem with Start Screen

Reproduction

start windows with sitekiosk automatic startup
black screen remai

Description

Good morning,
we have another problem on our sitekiosk installation.
When we launch the automatic startup using our windows start screen the desktop is black and we can't use sitekiosk.
Starting the task manager i see that there is a sitekiosk job called Strart screnn.
We can't use our sitekiosk installation with auto login but if i start the same config once it runs, why?
Kind Regards

Hello,

It may apply to any special group or domain policies setup with your account or a antivirus application that blocks the access to the Windows registry so that SiteKiosk cannot set the auto start entries?

Does it work in “normal” Auto Start Mode (with SiteKiosk user account)?
What other applications are installed?
Which operating system do you use?

Also there is no known issue you may even do a repair installation of SiteKiosk (-->Control Panel-->Programs and Features-->SiteKiosk-->Change) or Update to SiteKiosk 9.3?

It could be because we use a normal account and not a administrator account. To use sitekiosk is needed an administrator account?

We haven't tested this thing but we have tryed with another domain account and it do not work.

What other applications are installed?
Nothing else

Windows 7

I can tell you that if i set the sitekiosk screen saver to "sitekiosk atart page" instead windows boobles screen saver it works again.
The strange thing is that we have another installation that works also with bobbles screen saver.
Could be this the problem? The windows screen saver?

Hello,

SiteKiosk can also be started within restricted, non Admin accounts (even the local SiteKiosk user account used by default is not member of the administrators group and restricted).
But the start settings to make SiteKiosk auto start need to be set while logged into a Windows user account with local Admin rights.

The screensaver should have nothing to do with the start issue you have.
But there was an issue with using Windows screen saver in combination with the Start Screen ion older versions.
On machines having problem with Windows screen saver you should update to the most current SiteKiosk version 9.3:
