FAQ: Configuring Clients to use SiteCaster CMS when using a Virtual Directory for SiteRemote

Description

The installation of the SiteRemote Server allows you to use a virtual directory in IIS. If you are using this option, which is usually not necessary, you need to configure SiteKiosk Windows and SiteKiosk Android clients in a special way for SiteCaster CMS.

1. SiteKiosk Windows
After creating a SiteKiosk configuration that uses the SiteCaster option, you need to open the configuration file with an editor (e.g. Notepad). Look for the line

"remoteUrl": "https://$(SiteRemoteServerName)/sitecastercms/player/assets",

This line needs to be chanded to include the name of the virtual directory, e.g. like this

"remoteUrl": "https://$(SiteRemoteServerName)/NameOfTheVirtualDirectory/sitecastercms/player/assets",

Now please save the file to allow SiteKiosk Windows to communicate with the server.

2. SiteKiosk Android
Switch to the configuration of SiteKiosk Android. Tap seven times in the upper left corner, this will trigger the advanced configuration mode. Now go to Application -> SiteCaster -> Settings -> Update URL. Change the value that by default reads

https://$(SiteRemoteServerName)/sitecastercms/player/assets

This line needs to be chanded to include the name of the virtual directory, e.g. like this

https://$(SiteRemoteServerName)/NameOfTheVirtualDirectory/sitecastercms/player/assets

Save the change by tapping on OK.
