Support Request: Open files from a local disk using program

Description

Hello,

Recently I bought a license after some time using of a trial version and got such features as autorun SiteKiosk with Windows start. I am using configuration with replacing the Windows Shell. And because of the restrictions I can't to run my PDF using Acrobat Reader, as it was working in a trial version without automatic start up.

Now I just getting the following:
After pushing the links on a screen (in the SiteKiosk app), it opens the browser with an empty page.

Could you please explain me the best practice to make possible to run PDF files from the local disk, instead of what I have now.

Thank you

Hello,

there are numerous ways to achieve that. You could use the Start Screen with the Chrome engine and create PDF links on the start screen. PDFs will then automatically open in a SiteKiosk Chrome browser window. In case you want to use the SiteKiosk file manager you need to use the IE engine. In that case make a default Acrobat Reader installation, then PDFs can be shown in Acrobat (there are no restrictions in auto start to starting Acrobat when used with defaults). Make sure to add Acrobat Reader as an external application in the SiteKiosk configuration to allow SiteKiosk to handle the application.

Make sure that the pdf files are stored in a location the SiteKiosk user has access to. E.g. C:\Users\Public\Documents.
