Support Request: Launching Oracle Forms12 application and downloading files on USB

Description

Launching a Oracle Forms12 application via Chrome webstart gives action not allowed popup but the application does start.
Also I have the download manager activated but the downloaded files (*tif) are not visable in the download manager.
What to do?

Hello,

In regards to the log in the screenshot it is about
[SiteKiosk] Notification: According to the windows monitoring rule(Title:'*' Class:'ConsoleWindowClass') the window (Title:'C:\Program Files (x86)\SiteKiosk\Config\DBB.exe' Class:'ConsoleWindowClass') will be closed

You first should move the app into the folder “…\SiteKiosk\Html” and call the application from that folder as the Config folder is blocked for the SiteKiosk user (for security reasons).
Secondly you need to allow the command line window (ConsoleWindowClass) with the title 'C:\Program Files (x86)\SiteKiosk\Config\DBB.exe' at “-->Access/Security-->Block system critical windows & dialog boxes-->Settings” (just use the Add button to create a corresponding entry to allow that window).

At “-->Files & Downloads-->File actions” you can configure what to do with the TIF files after download.

General notes about SiteKiosk and external applications:
SiteKiosk has no direct influence to external applications but 2 settings that restrict the execution:

1. Windows & Dialogs Management:
SiteKiosk can block certain dialogs with using the Windows & Dialogs Management.
If you want / need to allow a specific Dialog that is blocked by default you can create a new entry with corresponding title at “-->Access/Security-->Block system critical windows & dialog boxes-->Settings” (or even delete the corresponding entry that blocks the window)

When SiteKiosk blocks a certain window you will find a notification in the SiteKiosk log (…\SiteKiosk\Logfiles).
Example:
[SiteKiosk] Notification: According to the windows monitoring rule(Title:'xxxxxx' Class:'xxxx') the window (Title:'xxxxxxxx' Class:'xxxxxxxxx') will be closed

2. User access rights of the SiteKiosk user:
In “Auto Start” mode the SiteKiosk Browser will be started within the restricted local SiteKiosk user account.
This also applies to access rights to the folders (read only, read & execute, blocked….) and blocking certain EXE programs.

To change user rights for the SiteKiosk user you can use the System-Security-Manager (e.g. providing full access to the folder where the EXE you want to start is stored to).

Dear Support,

I moved the DDB.exe and DBB.jnlp files to the \Html directory and added *DBB.exe* and *DBB.jnlp* as two extra extra entries in the dialog management screen but I still get the dialog popup "SiteKiosk - For security reasons this action is not allowed" when I start SiteKiosk.

Secondly I can download the .tif and .tiff files but they do not show in de download manager screen.

Is it possible to set up a teamviewer session?
greetings,
Marcel Mulders

Hello,

For the first issue ("SiteKiosk - For security reasons this action is not allowed") you should check the log (also see above and this FAQ https://www.provisio.com/en-GB/CustomerSupportCenter/ArticleDetails.aspx?ArticleID=5676).

For the second issue (tiff download) please check the download folder settings (default download folder settings “C:\Users\Public\Documents\SiteKiosk”) and the application you added to open the file type.
Or you first create a new, clean configuration (for testing) where you first just configure the password, the start page URL and allow downloads.

Dear Support,

The 1st option is solved but the second option, downloaded files not visible in the download manager is not solved. As suggested I created a new config with only password en download option activated. I can download the files in the default download directory C:\Users\Public\Documents\SiteKiosk but if I the Download Manager it says "No downloads found"
If I exit SiteKiosk and check the download folder I can see the downloaded files, why not in the Download Manager?
What is wrong in the config settings?

Hello,

please describe in detail how the download of the tiff files is triggered from within SiteKiosk. E.g. if this is somewhere on tilburg.nl, then describe what links or buttons to click to get to the file download.

Also provide your current SiteKiosk configuration file by mail to support-europe[at]provisio.com. Please reference the forum post in the email.
