Support Request: PDF Redirect not working in restricted user mode

Description

Sitekiosk is setup to use Chrome Browser.
Downloads are allowed.
I did not install a separate PDF-reader.

I have a startpage consisting of a few links to webpages. One of them leads to https://www.ivn.nl/afdeling/alphen-aan-den-rijn/bont-allerlei
On this page you find links that will download a pdf.

When I run SiteKiosk in test mode as admin the links work ok. A new window pops up with the PDF in it.

However, when I start SK automatically with the restricted user it fails.
I see a grey image of some kind of vault. Then it flickers and I am back at the start page.
I do not see an error message. Also the logs do not show an error.

I tried several things:
- Open pdf in Sitekiosk. The grey screen stays open and Sitekiosk becomes unusable.
- Open in designated program. The grey screen is shown a while, then it flickers and I am back at the start page.
- Via the System Security Manager I removed all restrictions of the restricted user and I added the user to the administrator group. No difference.

Direct links to PDF's open ok.

What can I do to make it work?

Hello,

I did check this with SiteKiosk 9.7.5324 on Windows 10 1909 in auto start mode but there was no issue.
Chrome Browser Skin with start page https://www.ivn.nl/afdeling/alphen-aan-den-rijn/bont-allerlei
Downloads allowed (default settings).

Did you change the download folder for SiteKiosk?
If yes please set the download folder back to default (C:\Users\Public\Documents\SiteKiosk) and make sure that the setting for PDF is to be opened in the SiteKiosk Browser (-->Files & Downloads)
If you restricted the Surfing Area make sure the access to the URLs with the PDF is not blocked by your settings.
When the URL will be blocked by your Surfing Area settings you will have entries like this in the log:
[SiteKiosk] Notification: According to the surf area rules the navigation to XYZ was canceled.

Then check again.

If not (or if that doesn’t help) you may first recreate the SiteKiosk user with default settings as follows:
a. Close SiteKiosk and log off
b. Login with a Windows user having local admin rights
c. Open the command line and enter these commands after each other

1. cd %SiteKioskPath%
2. SystemSecurity /uninstall

Check under "C:\Users" that there is no longer a folder named "SiteKiosk" and delete it manually if this is the case.
Next enter

3. SystemSecurity /install
4. SystemSecurity /applydefault

d. Start SiteKiosk again in Auto Start mode.

If it still doesn’t work please send the following files and information:
- the SiteKiosk configuration (...\SiteKiosk\Config\YourConfig.skcfg).
- the SiteKiosk log (...\SiteKiosk\Logfiles) with the exact time when the problem occurred
- the "SiteKioskNG.log" under "C:\Users\SiteKiosk\AppData\Local\Temp"
- The information which Windows version you are using
- A short step by step reproduction guide
