Support Request: Jumbled browser interface

Description

Were getting certain websites or links that load incorrectly - the text and the pictures are all out of order and some are unresponsive.

for instance https://www.dot.ny.gov/index will not load properly. We tried updating from IE 8 to IE 11 however the issue remains. Outside of the site kiosk software the page loads just fine. it's only when the page is loaded in your application that it loads incorrectly.

I tried to test this with your updated application however of course I get a message asking to register it before I can load the config file.

Can you either figure out why our pages will not load properly with our current version of Site Kiosk 6.6 or provide us with a temporary license for you newer version 8.0 so I can test and configure our 100 or so kiosk machine thought the state of NY at every rest stop and residency we have... please

Thank you,

Hello,

If you need to test the website in SiteKiosk 8.9, you will just need to click on the "register later" button to move forward without entering a license.

Regarding the issue of the website not loading as expected in SiteKiosk Browser:

You can try taking SiteKiosk out of the user agent header in case the site is performing some type of browser identification. To do this, open the SiteKiosk configuration tool and go to >Basic >Start Page & Browser >Advanced and uncheck the box labeled Add SiteKiosk to use agent header.

To try different compatibility view settings, do the following:

Close the SiteKiosk configuration tool then open your configuration file in Notepad and search for:
<ie8-compatibility-view enabled="true" />
and change it to this:
<ie8-compatibility-view enabled="false" />

Save the file then test in SiteKiosk. SiteKiosk needs to be started twice for the setting to take effect so start SiteKiosk in Start Once mode then close it right after it start and run it in Start Once mode again to test the issue. Other compatibility view settings can be found below.

With IE11 installed e.g.
<ie8-compatibility-view enabled="true" emulation-mode="8888" />
<ie8-compatibility-view enabled="true" emulation-mode="9999" />
<ie8-compatibility-view enabled="true" emulation-mode="10001" />

SiteKiosk is based off of the IE Webbrowser control which is the IE engine but no full blown IE. To test with just the IE Webbrowser control outside of SiteKiosk see below:

For testing it in the Internet Explorer Webbrowser Control (outside / without SiteKiosk) you can download this ZIP from our web page and then execute the exe after extracting the files (you do not need to install anything):

1: In regards to the trial version when I upgraded from V6.6 to 8.9 I'm getting a message to register Sitekiosk before I can open our .config file . . . can you provide me a test key if it works we have no problem upgrading all of our kiosk machines

2: cannot locate -- <ie8-compatibility-view enabled="true" /> to change it to <ie8-compatibility-view enabled="false" />

Were not using IE 11 at the moment - -

any other suggestion would be greatly appreciated

Also I looked for Basic >Start Page & Browser >Advanced and uncheck the box labeled Add SiteKiosk to use agent header within Sitekiosk v6.6 I do not see BASIC?

You will need to create a new configuration file with SiteKiosk 8 and test... You cannot use the SiteKiosk 6 configuration file... SiteKiosk 6 is a very old version of the software and has not been supported for quite sometime.

The changes to the compatibility view need to be made by right clicking on the configuration file and opening it using Notepad to see the XML code. You can then press CTRL + F to dearch for the line:

<ie8-compatibility-view enabled="true" />

A license is not required to do any of the above testing.

The new configuration file will be saved in the following location : C:// programfiles/sitekiosk/config ... you will be looking for the .skcfg file.
