Support Request: Automatic login does not occur

Description

SiteKiosk's automatic login feature seemed to be working when used with the special user account that SiteKiosk creates during installation, but I'd prefer to have SiteKiosk automatically log in with a certain ActiveDirectory account instead. I've entered the username, password, and domain into SiteKiosk, but when the computer is rebooted, Windows does not automatically log in. Instead, it prompts for a username and password just like it did before SiteKiosk was installed. I've verified the username, password, and domain several times, and I can manually log in with these credentials just fine. After I log in manually, SiteKiosk does appear to start properly, but it never logs in automatically.

Hello,

to login automatically to the ActiveDirectory account and start SiteKiosk automatically you can use the custom start settings.

In the custom start settings you can specify the Windows user to log on automatically at system startup.
Don’t forget to disable the option “Settings only apply to restricted SiteKiosk user account”.

Further information here:

If it still doesn’t work there is maybe any other security application (e.g. Antivirus Suite) installed, preventing that SiteKiosk can write the start options to the Windows Registy.

The credentials and domain are entered into SiteKiosk's custom start settings, and the "Settings only apply to restricted SiteKiosk user account" setting is disabled. I read that SiteKiosk documentation you mentioned, and as far as I can tell, I've entered the relevant settings correctly.

You're talking about the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon" section of the registry, right? "DefaultDomainName", "DefaultPassword", and "DefaultUserName" in that section look like they all got set correctly, for what that's worth. Admittedly, "AutoAdminLogon" seems to usually be set to "0", but even after I manually set it to "1", automatic login doesn't happen.

Do you know of anything else I can do, examine, or test to get automatic login to work?

Hello,

In that case there seems to be any other security application (e.g. Antivirus Suite) installed, preventing that SiteKiosk can write the start options to the Windows Registry.
Please check.

Otherwise your computer is maybe added to a domain and the Windows user you use for activating the auto start mode has not the required rights (full local admin rights).
