Support Request: White screen after abnormal shutdown

Good morning,

Our users report finding the Sitekiosk every morning with a white screen (with the vault-logo). After rebooting the kiosk manually, the program starts.
The configuration is the following: the kiosk boots into the restricted account and opens Chrome that links to a URL. We also configured a daily reboot at 5:15AM in the SiteKiosk maintenance section. However, the Sitekiosk software can't initiate the reboot because of a "[SiteKiosk] abnormal sitekiosk program termination" at 21:59:57 +0200" (found in the logfiles)

The abnormal program termination isn't caused by an electric or network outage, as we can see logs after 21:59:57 in the event-viewer of the miniPC.
This abnormal sitekiosk program termination happens every evening on different times so we can't see a pattern.

Please find the logfiles and the config file attached.

Hello,

As you configured a “Monitor off” at “22:00” and the abnormal SiteKiosk program termination happens as 12:59:57” did you check if it also happens when you remove the “Monitor off” entry (or even check if it also happens when setting the “Monitor off” to a point of time when you are in front of that machine)?

Generally there is no known issue with the monitor off / on feature but the reliability depends on the Windows system.
Please make sure that the option Sleep -> Allow wake timers is activated in the advanced power settings of the Windows Control Panel.
Also check that your Windows does not use Fast Boot (Windows 8) or Fast Startup (Windows 10). Both options prevent your computer from doing a regular shutdown.

If that doesn’t help you may check if the monitor off function generally works on that system (Display / Power Save settings) and update to the most current SiteKiosk version 9.7.502.
