Support Request: Headless .swcfg and .skcfg imports

Description

There are a configured site kiosk configuration file, xxx.skcfg,
and a site kiosk security manager, xxx.swcfg, files.

The goal is to install sitekiosk with these pre-configured config files on about 400 machines disconnected from a network.

It looks like copying C:\Program Files (x86)\SiteKiosk\SystemSecurity\swconfig.xml will replace the importing of xxx.swconfig file.

How to 'ímport' a .skcfg without having to open the configuration application, selecting the xxx.skcfg file and selecting the start screen template?

Hello,

Thank you for submitting your inquiry. You will need to place your *.skcfg file here C:\Program Files (x86)\SiteKiosk\Config. From one computer, you can export your startup configuration and replicate it to another computer with the skstartup.exe tool . However the password to the SiteKiosk limited user account must be the same or "AutoStart" will fail.

SKstartup.exe
A command line tool to import the SiteKiosk start settings is included in your SiteKiosk installation.
The location of the tool is C:\Program Files (x86)\SiteKiosk\SKStartup.exe.

First, you must export your start settings. Use the instructions to put SiteKiosk in to Autostart mode locally until you get to the point where you click the OK button. Instead of clicking OK in the Customized start settings, click the Export button. This will create a file named startup.xml. All of the settings on this page will be saved in this file to apply to your other machines.

Once you have the startup.xml file, log in to the kiosk machine as a Windows admin and save the file at the location “C:\program files (x86)\SiteKiosk\”. Next open a command prompt and copy/paste the following command then hit enter.

"C:\program files (x86)\SiteKiosk\skstartup.exe" /i "C:\program files (x86)\SiteKiosk\startup.xml"

You should see a message “Configuration import succeeded”. You can now restart the machine for the new start settings to take effect.

More information about skstartup.exe in section 1.3 bullet point 7 at the following link:

Best regards.

In addition to the previous post, if you are using the Start Screen start page of SiteKiosk, you will find your files in the folder C:\Users\Public\SiteKiosk\content. You will need to copy that entire folder with its contents to the new machine in that same file location. Your other content (image, html folders, PDF etc) files can be found here - C:\Program Files (x86)\SiteKiosk\Html.

Alternatively, this is also possible via SiteRemote: http://devblog.provisio.com/post/2016/02/22/Distributing-the-SiteKiosk-Windows-Start-Screen-with-SiteRemote.aspx .

Best Regards.
