Support Request: PDF Documents

Description

We created a home screen with multiple PDF documents, we allowed Adobe Reader, we want to have the documents print when selected by the client instead on opening adobe but going straight to print. How can we accomplish this using your printing dialog. Thank you,

Hello,

Thank you for your inquiry. SiteKiosk does not offer any features that can automatically print a web page nor can it control internal processes of external applications. The Windows Print Dialogue box does not have this feature as well. You could however use external tools to accomplish this. For example, Adobe has a print feature that you could use in command line (information from a Web Search - https://community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat-reader/how-to-print-a-pdf-from-the-command-line/td-p/8941837?page=1).

Say selecting Start Screen as your Start Page and selecting an Application Link with the application path and parameters to the local PDF file. Then you can list Adobe as an approved application and when the screen saver activates, it will close the Adobe window. It may not be a good idea to set your screensaver timeout to less than a minute (60s). You can set Screensaver to Open SiteKiosk Start Page. Based on the article, Adobe made some changes so you may have to close the Adobe window. I have not tested that Adobe feature but this seems to be the most easiest solution.

See 5 min Start Screen tutorial video: https://www.provisio.com/en-US/Video/Player.aspx#StartscreenTutorialENFinal.webm
(Note: PDF files may best be placed here - C:\Program Files (x86)\SiteKiosk\Html )

Otherwise you may consider automatically printing with JavaScript but that will require extensive coding and testing (our team would not be able to assist further with coding). You could incorporate your coding by setting SiteKiosk to print web pages without user interaction in Print Behavior.

Best regards,
Andre.
