Support Request: Run application at startup/in background

Description

Is it possible to run an application at startup alongside sitekiosk, and keep that app running in the background?

We have a shipping provider that requires a tray application to be running in the background.

If so, where do I go to configure this?

Hello,

Thank you for your inquiry. There are two ways to get your application to run (in the tray - depends on the application):

1. You can use Task Scheduler to ensure this application is running in the background for the SiteKiosk user (service user). I have seen one tray application refused to launch under this user unless by Task Scheduler.

2. You can automatically launch applications on project start/screensaver end/logout with the "Auto action element". This element is hidden, and you can add the path to your application in Properties>>Action>>"Start app/program". If application is already launched, it may not launch another instance. Some testing is needed.

Applications that run in the tray, should run fine unless they are affected by Shell (explorer.exe) replacement or restrictions related to the SiteKiosk user. You can test a local standard user to help determine if in a different environment, the application will work.
