Support Request: Webpage Will Not Load in Sitekiosk Online. Displays Oops!

Description

We're experiencing an issue with Sitekiosk Online (1.3.1101.7067) loading our library webpage (https://shellharbour.on.worldcat.org/discovery). We are using the basic browser template for the project. It tries to load but displays just "Oops!" on the screen. With Sitekiosk Online turned off, using a the web browser on the computer, everything works correctly. Can you please help as we need this running on 8 machines at different library branches. Thank you

Hello,

Thank you for your inquiry. It is unclear what is causing that behavior with your website in the current version of SiteKiosk Online. In tests with the beta version of SiteKiosk Online, the issue did not occur. The next release of the SiteKiosk Online client software is scheduled to be out in 3-7 weeks.

No workaround is available until that time, but your SiteKiosk Classic licenses will be available to use as a workaround until that time. Please follow up directly at support-america(at)sitekiosk.com with any additional questions.

This issue started about about 4 weeks ago in SiteKiosk Classic but until then we had no issues for 5 years. I was unable to fix the issue in classic and we were planning to move to SiteKiosk Online anyway so I was hoping that would resolve the issue but unfortunately it still persists.

It looks like any site using https://www.worldcat.org/ and the WorldCat Discovery URL will have this problem.

I found this information online but was unable to resolve the issue by myself.

Hi Glenn,

You are correct that this issue may be vendor related. If you have not made any changes to SiteKiosk but the website stopped working as it did, then it could be attributed to changes made to the website. You can solve this with SiteKiosk Classic by updating to the current version 9.9.6466 and following the instructions in the ZIP file link and reading the README_en.txt here: https://www.sitekiosk.com/sitekiosk-classic-windows-version-history/

Please be mindful that that an updated license is needed to use that version. In your case, that will not be an issue.

The ZIP file contains an update to Chromium CEF 115. It could be that the website, requires a feature related that that Chromium browser engine version. Reaching out to the vendor may confirm this. You could ask if provision can be made for older browser engines as well. SiteKiosk Online is uses Electron with Chromium 114 currently.
