Support Request: Sitekiosk.app.exe Application Error

Description

Hi

In last the days out of blue we are experiencing an issue on a lot of machines with different sitekiosk versions and different PC models. At first we get an an unknown software exception, after several sitekiosk start attempts we get screen with Sitekiosk Emergency configuration file. Screenshots in attachment

It seems that after using general password login and login as admin and manual start of sitekiosk config file it starts working.

What can we do to prevent this situation? Any ideas?

Thank you

Hello,

SiteKiosk Classic Windows 9.7 is out of support but the mechanism for the emergency screen is the same in the actual version 9.9.6744 like in previous versions.
The so-called Emergency Screen is a protective function of SiteKiosk, see also FAQ: https://www.sitekiosk.com/de/web/CustomerSupportCenter/ArticleDetails.aspx?ArticleID=25180

The cause is usually somewhere else (outside of SiteKiosk), especially in the case of sudden problems, but it can also be due to special domain policies / third-party security programs that prevent SiteKiosk and/or the services from starting.

In this case it might be due to the performance of the client device (especially since this week is Microsoft Patchday and the Windows update installation in the background can affect the performance of the computer at the time of installation).

You can first check whether it also occurs when you set the time for the watchdog that monitors SiteKiosk a little higher e.g. to 60 or 90 seconds.
The details (and more information) you will find in the FAQ I linked above.
