FAQ: What does "Unauthorized function call" or "For security reasons this action is not allowed" mean?

Description

A window with "Unauthorized function call" or "For security reasons this action is not allowed" will appear,
if you try to download a file while downloads are not allowed in the SiteKiosk configuration,
or if you open a (application) window which is (for security reasons) not allowed by the settings in the "Windows & Dialogs Management".

If the page makes a download and you want to allow it, you should activate the File Manager of SiteKiosk and allow downloads (-->File Manager):
http://www.provisio.com/helpconsole/SiteKiosk%20Help/en-US/default.htm?file_manager.htm

If that doesn’t help you need to check if a (external) window will be opened which is blocked by default.
Notifications you will find in the SiteKiosk log (…\SiteKiosk\Logfiles).
Example:

[SiteKiosk] Notification: According to the windows monitoring rule(Title:'xxxxxx' Class:'xxxx') the window (Title:'xxxxxxxx' Class:'xxxxxxxxx') will be closed

Since Windows 10 1803 the windows system starts an Edge Process in the background when the windows user logs in.
By default SiteKiosk blocks Edge processes (like all other browser applications, for security reasons) but these (new) processes cannot be closed with the previous default settings which leads to the repeated message "For security reasons this action is not allowed".

This is fixed with SiteKiosk 9.6.4557 https://www.provisio.com/Downloads/VersionHistory.aspx?Product=SiteKiosk

Otherwise:
Also it “only” applies to “Run once” mode you can avoid that problem enabling the option “Terminate any process which generated this window” at “-->Access/Security-->Block system critical windows & dialog boxes -->Settings” -->choose “*icrosoft Edg*” and press the edit button.

Alternatively you can configure another default browser than Edge on Windows (and restart Windows to apply the setting).
