Support Request: Ryanair Boarding Passes / Website printing

Description

We sometimes have an issue with certain websites where on printing a blank page is printed.

Ryainair is one of those websites that guests use a lot and complain about. There are several other websites with same issue but I'm using Ryanair to explain.

What I noticed is that on pressing the "Print Now" button (see attached image) if on the print prompt you get the attached wrong URL/file the printout is blank, while if you get the attached correct URL/file it prints perfectly.

This happens randomly. For example in today's testing 2 out 5 board passes were printed. For testing I used the same "Print Now" page without closing it and did 5 successive tests for the same boarding pass.

We do not charge for printing. We just limit the page count (50)

Any help would be greatly appreciated as it is very annoying to guests.

Regards
Ian

Hello,

As usually a PDF will be created when using the print button on Boarding pass pages please first check if the SiteKiosk player for PDF is enabled and disable it:
To disable the SiteKiosk Player for PDF:

- Open the SiteKiosk configuration file (…\SiteKiosk\Config\YourConfig.skcfg) with an editor (e.g. Notepad) and search for the line

<filter enabled="true" player="pdf" content="application/pdf" action="2"/>

- Then change the value from true to false

<filter enabled="false" player="pdf" content="application/pdf" action="2"/>

Note that on Windows systems with UAC activated you may need to start the Notepad application as Administrator (right mouse click-->Run as administrator) to get enough access rights for saving the changes.

In newer SiteKiosk versions the SiteKiosk Player for PDF is disabled by default.

Hello Michael,

Checked config and PDF player is already set to False.

I do not think the problem is related to PDF printing as this happens even on with normal website printing.

As mentioned in support request, this happens when in the printing dialogue box the local temp path is shown. When the actual website url is shown it prints normally.

Is there a way to always force the actual url website path on printing ?

Hello,

SiteKiosk just uses the IE Webbrowser Control and the printing function of the Internet Explorer.

Does it work when disabling the printer monitoring?
What if configuring the IE Printing dialog in the SiteKiosk configuration?

Before trying the above you first should enable the MS Download Dialog for hte URL the print out is coming from (ryanair URL):
