SiteKiosk Android is available from the download section of our website www.provisio.com. What you can download from there is a trial version with full functionality. As long as it is not registered it will display an advertising screen every few minutes. To lift that limitation you can register the trial version with a key you can buy in our webshop.

SiteKiosk Android can be used with the remote monitoring and digital signage solution SiteRemote. You can test SiteRemote.net for free for 30 days.

If you are installing the trial version from the Google Play store, the installation is started automatically from within Google Play.
If you are installing the trial version from www.provisio.com some Android versions will directly ask you if they should start the installation after the download finished. On other Android versions you might have to go to the file manager and open the Download folder. Just tap on the SiteKiosk package in the folder to start the installation.

Once the installation is done and you start SiteKiosk Android for the first time you need to accept the license terms.

Under Android 5.x and higher this is followed by a dialog that asks you to allow SiteKiosk to access usage data. This is required for SiteKiosk to work with Android system apps. Click on the Go to settings button that leads you directly to the related Android security settings. Activate SiteKiosk on that Android configuration page and then click the back button to return to SiteKiosk.
Note: If you skip this step, SiteKiosk will deactivate the options for Android App and Mutltiple Applications on the Application configuration page of SiteKiosk and a few other minor options.

Under Android 6.x and higher you are asked for additional changes to rights and settings. These are non-optional and required for SiteKiosk to work properly. If you deny these rights or not make the setting changes, SiteKiosk will not start and ask again on each start.

After that you will see a dialog that provides important information regarding the Android lock screen. SiteKiosk sets the lock screen password to 1234 or to your master password (part of the license information you receive when purchasing SiteKiosk Android) once SiteKiosk is registered, and removes the lock screen when you exit SiteKiosk. Normally you do not need to enter the password as everything is handled automatically by SiteKiosk. You may see the lock screen for some seconds when you start SiteKiosk. Only in exceptional cases, this password can be required to unlock the lock screen manually. The lock screen needs to be reconfigured if Sitekiosk is no longer used and uninstalled.
Note that some SiteKiosk settings require the Android lock screen to be disabled. If an Android lock screen has been set outside of SiteKiosk you will be asked to deactivate it.
Important Note: When using Android 8 and higher the lock screen must be deactivated. It will also not be activated by SiteKiosk. This is due to restrictions of Android 8 and higher.

Next you need to activate the Protected Kiosk Mode of SiteKiosk as an Android device administrator. This is required so that SiteKiosk Android can shield your system against manipulation.
Note you will need to disable the Protected Kiosk Mode in the list of device administrators before you can uninstall SiteKiosk Android.

Finally SiteKiosk Android will ask you what to use as your default home screen. To fully enable the protected kiosk mode on your tablet you need to use the SiteKiosk Browser as your default home screen.
You also need to select to use the SiteKiosk Browser as the default option for this action. This will ensure that SiteKiosk will automatically start again if the device is restarted or powered off from within a running SiteKiosk Android browser.
On Samsung devices with a Samsung Knox version 3.0 or higher SiteKiosk will skip the step to choose the home screen, it will use Knox instead to further enhance the security. The usage of Knox requires accepting the Samsung Knox Privacy Policy when you first start SiteKiosk, this process needs an Internet connection at that time.

Now you will see a checklist with a few recommendations concerning SiteKiosk and Android settings. This list helps you to configure your Android tablet to be used as a kiosk system.

You are done. The next you will see is the SiteKiosk browser with the default settings. To change the default settings you have to go to the configuration of SiteKiosk Android.
To get back to the normal Android home screen you can just exit SiteKiosk Android.

A note for Huawei devices. You need SiteKiosk 2.9.8108 or higher. After the installation, when you first start SiteKiosk and went through the above setup process, you will get a popup that tells you to "Please choose SiteKiosk as your default home screen". Now you need to go to the Settings of your Huawei device and choose Apps & notifications > Default apps > Launcher. There you need to select SiteKiosk and then press the Home button, this will start SiteKiosk. From now on you can start SiteKiosk normally by pressing the app icon.
